The Wrist-Mounted Chain Gun is the secondary weapon of the Brumak and the Swarmak. These weapons, as its name implies, is wielded and attached on the wrists of either a Brumak or a Swarmak. They are often wielded in pairs, one for each arm.
The weapons are a powerful secondary and suppressive weapon, used to take care of smaller targets like infantry whilst the larger Rocket Launcher is aimed for larger targets. There is a trigger on each of the weapon handle, which allows the Brumak/Swarmak to fire via a trigger squeeze.
Strategy[]
In Gears of War 2, after hijacking a Brumak, the creature controls similar to a normal player, albeit more ungainly and slower. The Chain Guns are your primary go-to weapons, despite the fact that it is a secondary weapon. This is due to the fact that it has a higher rate of fire, which allows it to target more enemies. The weapons act as the Brumak's equivalent of a Lancer, although in actuality, they are like dual-wielded Troikas, gibbing Locusts in the process. The weapon has a heat buildup and must need to cooldown once every while or it would overheat. They have a wide spread and aren't that accurate; only useful towards swarms of enemies and doing moderate damage to larger creatures and structures. [1]
On Horde 2.0 in Gears of War 3, the Chain Guns can be dangerous if one acts carelessly. While not as dangerous as the Rocket Launcher, it can heavily suppress a player. On higher difficulties, the damage buildup can fill dramatically and could instagib careless players, so always take cover. Fortunately, they can be destroyed if enough firepower is placed on these weapons.[2]
Behind the Scenes[]
- These weapons underwent a cosmetic change. In Gears of War, the Chain Guns along with the Brumak Rocket Launcher, had only one barrel, however in later installments, the weapon was upgraded with a twin-barrel arrangement.[3]
