Gears 5 Launch Tower

The UIR Turntable Launch Tower with a UIR Rocket prepping for takeoff

The UIR Turntable Launch Tower was a facility in OZP-11 which was a secret cosmodrome that was built by the Union of Independent Republics for it's space program. The Launch Tower was where the UIR Rockets would be transported for launch after being assembled at the UIR Rocket Hangar.

A Rocket Transport Train en route to the Launch Tower

During the late Pendulum Wars, when OZP-11 was active, the UIR Turntable Launch Tower was built to launch the UIR Rockets that would carry the Hammer of Dawn satellites and cosmonauts into space. The tower was a spectacle of engineering. A rocket which was freshly-assembled at the UIR Rocket Hangar would be transported via the Rocket Transport Train to the tower and mounted in it horizontally. When it was time to launch, the entire tower would rotate into a vertical position by safely cradling the rocket inside until it was fully upright for takeoff. It was unknown if the UIR successfully launched any rockets with the tower as OZP-11 was shut down and damaged by the Mutiny at OZP-11 before the UIR could launch it's Hammer of Dawn satellites or undertake the planned Expedition to the Moons of Sera. However, they kept a rocket at the nearby train turntable rather than in the rocket hanger which had the satellites and nose cone for the rocket.[1]

In 42 A.E., Delta-One rode a UIR Rocket on a Rocket Transport Train to the tower to launch some UIR Hammer of Dawn satellites to aid in the Coalition of Ordered Governments' struggle against the Swarm. JACK activated the tower by positioning the rocket upright, but also triggered the launch sequence. When Delta attempted to evacuate the tower before the rocket launched and vaporized them with it's exhaust, the Kraken which was a colossal mythical creature that fell under the Swarm's control appeared and blocked their exits. Delta managed to distract the creature by wounding it's tentacles and shooting it's fast-regenerating tongues and escaped from the tower via a King Raven Mark 2 that was piloted by Garron Paduk. The rocket launched successfully by sending the three satellites into orbit and Delta believed that the Kraken was killed by the exhaust blast. Unfortunately, the Kraken survived and trailed Delta to New Ephyra.[1]
