UIR Sandswept is a specialized military unit branch of the Union of Independent Republics infantry that deals with desert combat and harsh terrain survival.[2] The Sandswept accept recruits to then be trained and molded into Sandswept Troopers.
History[]
Pendulum Wars[]
The Sandswept were known to have participated in the UIR invasion of Vasgar. Given the nation's crimson environments and harsh weather, this had made it unbearable for most normal UIR Soldiers. As such, the Sanswept, which was adapted and trained for these environments, were one of the key forces during the operation. Standard UIR Infantrymen were only allowed to be stationed once formal annexation and occupation proceeded.
Interservice Relations[]
The Sandswept as aforementioned, were a specialized branch of the UIR Army. Therefore, they could be considered as 'sister' branches with the UIR Elites.

- Their armour is meant to appear more light weight compared to the standard UIR soldiers to allow them extra mobility.[4]
- The UIR Sandswept first appeared in Gears 5 multiplayer as an alternate character skin for the UIR Soldier during Operation 6, April 2021.
