The UIR Belt-fed Machine Gun was a weapon used by the UIR army during the Pendulum Wars. These heavy machine guns were only seen wielded by UIR soldiers in the later battles against COG forces with lethal and efficient effect.
Background[]
These belt-fed machine guns were large weapons that were both portable and deadly to use. They were often utilized for suppressive and covering fire, as the weapon's high ammunition count created an automatic kill-zone.
The machine gun had a large iron sight, but the large rate-of-fire would have made aiming less important due to its role in suppression. Because of its more streamlined physical volume, the UIR had an advantage of logistics, portability and ergonomics in contrast to the vastly more bulkier Mulcher and Chain Gun used by the COG.
The Battle of Irohma Island highlighted the weapon's lethality as the primitive weapons and tools used by the Irohma Islanders were no match for the technology of the UIR. This was proven by the sheer volume of fire these machine guns could dish out.[1]
History[]
The weapon was utilized heavily by the UIR Infantry against Gears issued with the Mark 1 Lancer Assault Rifle in various battles of the late Pendulum Wars, thus making it a common sight on the battlefield. It was used to great effect during the Battle of Irohma Island against natives and proved to be an effective weapon against opposing Gears.
Other engagements in which the weapon saw use includes the Raids on the Acastu Imulsion Fields[2] , Battle of Aspho Fields,[1] and the Skirmish in Ghato City.[3]
Behind the Scenes[]
- The Belt-fed Machine Gun could have been the UIR's equivalent to the Coalition of Ordered Governments' Mulcher, Chain Gun and Tri-Shot Chain Gun, albeit far more portable and less bulky.
- The Machine Gun bares some uncanny and superficial similarities with the Assault Rifle from the Halo franchise, another Microsoft exclusive gaming franchise.
