Ukkon's Torture Pods.
Torture Pods were containment devices meant to hold and torture captured humans during the Locust War. They were considered one of the key components of "processing". Humans placed inside a torture pod were forced to stand upright, usually sleep deprived and malnourished, due the pods being a type of iron maiden device. Any attempts to rest would be met with the inward facing spikes of the pod. Torture pods could be given a kill-timer that would launch these spikes to impale the prisoner, if needed.[1]

Assassination of Ukkon[]
During the early periods of the Locust War, just after the Hammer of Dawn Strikes, Gabriel Diaz and his squad was ordered to assassinate Ukkon. During their mission to track him down, they discovered several Torture Pods with Gears inside of them. Gabriel managed to free most of them and incorporate them into his mission to assassinate the Locust scientist.[1]
Operation: Hollow Storm[]
Torture Pods in Gears 2.
During Operation: Hollow Storm, thousands of Gears including Stranded were captured by the Locust Horde to be processed onboard Torture Barges. It was here where the largest implementation of the Torture Pods were recorded. Gears such as Tai Kaliso were known victims of these Pods while civilians like Maria Santiago was also processed inside these devices. More fortunate Gears such as Damon S. Baird were to be freed inside these Pods in time before actual processing began.[2]
