Bernadette Mataki, former squad leader of Sierra-One.
Sierra-One was a Gear squad, led by Sgt. Bernadette Mataki, that took part in Operation: Hollow Storm. Most of the squad was killed during the Assault on Landown and in the Hollows. Only Sgt. Mataki and Niall Sorrens were able to survive, although Sorrens was subsequently killed in the flooding of Jacinto City. Mataki was able to escape the sinking and was reassigned back to Delta-One.
The squad was reconstituted by the new Coalition of Ordered Governments by 42 A.E., and participated in the Battle of Old Ephyra under the command of 1st Lt. Fahz Chutani.

Operation: Hollow Storm[]
During the Assault on Landown, Sierra-One made it down into the Hollow, but apparently lost contact with Control, as they were thought to be missing in action.[1] They fought their way through the Hollow back to the surface, but were all killed except for Sgt.Bernadette Mataki and Niall Sorrens. However, they missed their rendezvous with a King Raven to evacuate Jacinto, and the city began to flood. The two survivors were separated, with Sorrens assumed to have drowned, but Sgt.Mataki was rescued by KR-239 and Delta-One.[2] Mataki rejoined Delta, and it is unknown if Sierra-One was ever reformed before the end of the Locust War.
Battle of Old Ephyra[]
A new Sierra Squad existed by the time of the Swarm War in 42 A.E. During the Battle of Old Ephyra, 1st Lt. Fahz Chutani was assigned to command it, and it was one of numerous squads deployed into Old Ephyra to plant UIR-made Hammer of Dawn targeting beacons at strategic locations. Once activated, the beacons allowed the squads to use the Hammer of Dawn against the Swarm within a set radius. This only slowed the Swarm's advance to the walls of New Ephyra, however, and the beacons were destroyed one-by-one. Chutani lost contact with Sierra Squad in the fighting, and commandeered a Minotaur to rendezvous with Delta-One and help them retreat to the New Ephyra wall for the COG's last stand.[3][4]
