The Rock Shrew is a small, subterranean mole-like mammal found only in the Inner and Outer Hollows. These animals were probably at the bottom of the food chain and was most likely preyed upon by other creatures such as the Kryll. According to Elain Fenix, there maybe an offshoot from an older genus which included much larger tunnel-dwelling creatures.
In 17 B.E., Rock Shrews were studied by Doctor Elain Fenix, who discovered entire generations of these animals being heavily mutated with extra limbs near Imulsion.
The extra limbs of these dead Rock Shrew samples were found to be vestigial, a mutation which caught the curiosity of both Elain and Adam Fenix.[1]
