Red-Three was an eight-man Gear squad that was a part of the 3rd Ephyran Engineers. They were extracted from Shenko Falls while blocking off a sewer tunnel.

Skirmish at Shenko Falls

Ten years after Emergence Day, at the end of Reap, Red-Three were blocking off a sewer tunnel in Shenko Falls to delay the Locust advance into Ephyra. After collapsing the sewer in three places, they'd start filling it in with a special mix of concrete and jagged chunks of metal, specially designed to slow down Corpsers. Whilst collapsing the sewer, KR Nine-Six radioed them, telling them that Locust forces were approaching their position and that they should leave. Red-Three, however, was hesitant to leave until the job was finished. KR Nine-Six decided to land and extract Red-Three. When they landed, Sgt. Marcus Fenix got out and talked to Cpt. Shaw, who reluctantly told the rest of the engineers to get on board, but stayed as long as he could to make sure the concrete kept pouring into the crater. However, the edge of the crater collapsed, with Shaw falling into the concrete. The Locust had now caught up to them, and Marcus attempted to winch him out with the Raven whilst under fire. The attempt failed, and KR Nine-Six returned to Ephyra with the other seven members of Red-Three.
