The Reaver Rocket Launcher is the primary weapon of the Locust Reaver use throughout the Locust War. These weapons were mounted on the right side of the Reaver's mount, with the rider both controlling the beast and the weapon.
The rocket launcher is laser sighted and is able to launch one rocket per shot. These rockets while unguided, is incredibly powerful and accurate, demolishing statues in one direct hit or slaying even a Brumak in a few shots.
Strategy[]
The rocket launcher is usable in only two areas in the entire Gears of War franchise. In Gears of War 2 Act 5: Aftermath Chapter 1: Escape, the player gets to take a limited control of the reaver. Whilst the level is technically on rails, they are able to make the reaver maneuver left or right to avoid projectiles. In terms of the rocket launcher itself, it is a powerful weapon and, on normal difficulty, it is able to destroy most enemies in a few direct hits.[1]
In Gears of War 4 Act 1 Prologue: Remembrance, there is an Easter Egg involving the section of E-Day in regards to the reavers. If you killed both the rider and the gunner without harming the reaver, you could simply walk underneath the beast and press X to mount it. This is the second time in which the player could control the reaver. In contrast to Gears of War 2, you could actually move the beast as per normal (you cannot fly of course). The rocket launcher still retains its potent effect although you could only control it for a limited time before it transitions to the next event.[2]
When fighting the reaver, always take cover to bare the brunt of the damage caused by the rocket launcher. A direct hit would down the player on lower difficulties and would insta-kill them on higher difficulties. So caution must be heeded when fighting them.
