The Reaver Chain Gun is a secondary armament for the Reaver utilised by the Locust Horde as a weapon to deal with enemy aircraft and infantry.
Situated at the back of the Reaver's saddle near the gunner seat, this Chain Gun is controlled by the gunner to deal with ambushing aircraft. It resembles a strip-down version of the Troika Heavy Machine Gun, except smaller and with a single barrel. The weapon's twin-drum magazine is located at the top of the weapon, allowing for full swivel action at the cost of making aiming difficult.[1]
Not all Reavers have the Chain Gun as some gunners opt for their Hammerburst Assault Rifle due to both accuracy and the fact that the Chain Gun only has a 180 degree firing range, meaning that it can't hit targets from the front.
Strategy[]
The Chain Gun is the secondary weapon of the Reaver in Gears of War 2 Act 5: Aftermath Chapter 1: Escape.[2] Unlike the Reaver Rocket Launcher, which could only be fired from the front, the Chain Gun could only be fired from the rear and the sides.
The accuracy of the Chain Gun is sporadic and poor in contrast to the accurate Rocket Launcher. This makes it effective only at close to medium range. During the Skorge chase sequence, the Chain Gun is the only weapon effective at damaging the Hydra. It is also used to fend off against attacking enemy Reavers, felling them in a dozen shots. [3]
The Chain Gun can overheat so concern must be presented when fighting the Hydra.
