Propane Tanks are used by both Stranded and Gears alike in Post E-Day Sera. They have two purposes: A ready alternative fuel source for the Stranded population, and for Gears (namely Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago) to avoid being eaten by the Kryll.[1]
History[]
Pendulum Wars[]
Before E-Day, propane tanks was a cheap and available fuel source used to power up heating appliances and cooking equipment. Their ease in energy control and relative low carbon footprint made them one of the few energy source that could compete with Imulsion as all other forms of alternative energy was pushed out of competition.
However, their high volatility and flammability due to its pressurized nature made propane tanks a dangerous makeshift explosive. During the Battle of Aspho Fields, the UIR had several propane tanks lying around. Dominic Santiago and Victor Hoffman used this to their advantage and detonated several of these tanks, disorientating Indies and destroying a balcony in the process.[2]
Locust War[]
Propane tanks are an important part of the Stranded life as their lack of technology prevents them from using Imulsion as a fuel source, and it is one of their only defenses against the Kryll until the Lightmass Offensive wiped them all out.[3]
Delta Squad found that the Stranded strategically placed several propane tanks beforehand in areas where a spotlight or a campfire was unavailable. This eventually led Marcus Fenix and Dom to Chaps' Aspho Gas Station.[4]
Lambent Pandemic[]
During the Lambent Pandemic, when Delta Squad went to Char in search of fuel, propane tanks were used as explosive traps by the Stranded there, particularly by the Ash Man.[5]
At the Battle of Anvil Gate, the COG defending the fortress placed several propane tanks as makeshift bombs to delay the locust onslaught before the Imulsion Countermeasure Weapon put an end to the battle.[6]
