- "We are both widely different and highly alike. One common thread among us? The rejection of the loyalty that led our lives to fruitless toil and ruin."
- —Garron Paduk[1]
The Nomads are a group of humans living in the post-Locust War era. Led by Garron Paduk, they rejected loyalty to any nation or organization other than themselves and desired to live their lives simply and freely. By 42 A.E., they began camping in the former country of Vasgar near OZP-11.
History[]
Founding and arrival in Vasgar[]
The Nomads formed sometime after the end of the Locust War. Garron Paduk assembled a like-minded group of ex-soldiers and survivors of many nationalities who sought to live by simple and utilitarian rules with no loyalty to anyone or anything other than themselves. As they wandered Sera, they sought only to be able to live in they way that they chose.[1] Unlike the similarly-independent Outsiders, the Nomads, as implied by their name refused to settle in any one place and traveled frequently.
By 42 A.E., the Nomads arrived in Vasgar where they attempted to acquire water by reactivating the water pumping system of an unidentified Vasgari port city near OZP-11 while setting up camp in an Abandoned Airport. At first, the only danger was from the Windflares, lightning strikes from which could turn the red Vasgari desert sand into pillars of glass, but then the Swarm emerged.[2]
Mission to OZP-11[]
In the four weeks after the Mission to Mount Kadar Laboratory, the Nomads noticed that the Swarm became smarter and more capable and even began making it's own weapons such as the Claw Light Machine Gun. When Damon S. Baird reached out to Paduk to request his help in launching the UIR's Hammer of Dawn satellites from OZP-11 in order to combat the Swarm, Paduk and his Nomads agreed to help.[2]

Behind the Scenes[]
- The Nomads appear to be a continuation of or off-shoot of Paduk's group in Halvo Bay which held similar beliefs.
- The Nomads present in Gears 5 all speak Vasgari.
