The Miner Drones were a class of Locust who mined ore and other resources for the Horde. They were also responsible for creating new tunnels in the Hollow and maintaining them.

Background

These Miners are one of the most important class of Drones as they are responsible for the acquisition of resources to manufacture the Locust war machine. They may also be important as builders that construct the architecture of the Locust Nexus.

Miners are also responsible for directing Corpsers on where to dig as well as providing the Locust Army on intelligence and logistics to create strategically sound Emergence Holes. They wear a special helmet which protects them from harm.

Due to the fact that they are not seen in combat, it is possible that Miners are non-combatants and act as a logistical reserve.

• The Locust Miner is a playable character in Gears of War 3, unlocked at level 3.
  • The Golden Miner is also a playable character, unlocked after earning the Gold Rifleman Medal.
• In Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, the Miner is an unlockable multiplayer character, available after reaching Level 12.
