The Marlin fast attack craft was an inflatable hovercraft used by COG Commandos for fast, stealthy, amphibious insertions into enemy territory. Sea Ravens were outfitted to launch and receive Marlins for quick picks up and exits. The Marlin sported both an aerodynamic and hydrodynamic hull that allowed it to exceed average boat speeds, and could carry between 4 & 8 fully equipped Gears at a time. Several Marlins were used in the assault on Aspho Point during Operation Leveler.

Behind the scenes

• In Gears of War 4, during the Aspho Fields prologue scene and Aspho Fields mock-up in the Fort Reval Museum.
• The Marlin shares some design aspects with a United States Navy assault craft; the Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC).
• The Marlin also sports what appears to be two machine guns at the back of the hovercraft; presumable for fire support.
• On the Gears of War 3 multiplayer map Bullet Marsh, there is a Marlin at the Swamp Spawn.
