The Locust Defense Tower is a defensive structure used and built by the Locust Horde that covers large areas of the Inner Hollows. These large defensive emplacements were primarily found in major Locust cities such as their capital, the Nexus. They fire computer-guided rockets with pin-point accuracy which makes them dangerous to air targets.
Despite this, they were seldom found, instead, they only appeared in two areas throughout Gears of War 2, they appeared in Act 5: Aftermath Chapter 1: Escape and Chapter 5: Closure. The ones in the Reaver chase sequence in Escape mounted spotlights that looked like an overly enlarged helmet of a Locust Grappler whilst the one in Closure was more plain in appearances.[1][2]
Strategy[]
These defense towers are a nuisance as they shoot out rockets that have good homing capabilities. Whilst on a Reaver, these structures are a threat on higher difficulties due to the aforementioned homing abilities and the Reaver's low health. For the Brumak, they are nothing more than cannon fodder.
Fortunately, they are relatively simple to demolish. The Reaver requires only three hits from its rocket launcher to destroy the structure whilst the Brumak only need one hit from its rocket launcher to do the same.

Behind the Scenes[]
- As they only appear in two chapters throughout the franchise, they are one of the rarest weapons ever used in the Gears universe.
