Lift is a multiplayer map in Gears of War 4, based on the ore transporter that JD, Kait, and Del use in Act III. The map will descend during certain Versus gametypes, with the Boomshot/Dropshot, Longshot, and Shock Grenades/Overkills being available when the transporter reaches the bottom.
An 'Apex' version was introduced as part of a free map DLC that Season Pass owners could play exclusively from October 23rd, 2017. It became available to all players on October 30th, 2017, but is only available for private play if the Season Pass has been purchased or the map is separately downloaded.
Lift Apex is set on an Imulsion Extraction Facility in the middle of the Serano Ocean, with the mechanic of the moving lift no longer in play. Shutters on either side of the Control Room can now be closed for twenty seconds, denying sightlines and stopping the enemy from firing into the Control Room. The Longshot and Shock Grenade/Overkill spawn areas have been removed, and other cover points have had changes or been added, reducing the overall size of the map. All weapons are available from the get-go, though weapon changes have been made; the Incendiary Grenades have been replaced with Bolo Grenades, the Shock Grenades no longer cycle with Overkills and now spawn where the Tri-Shot/Mulcher used to, and the Longshot cycles with the EMBAR and now spawns in the enclosed position in the Submarine Dock, in front of the Shock Grenades.
To unlock the Easter Egg, players need to destroy three rock pieces with the Dropshot. This may take several attempts, but once complete, a hard hat will spawn in the Control Room. The hard hat can only be worn by one player, and will be lost and won't respawn if that player is killed.
