The Laser-Guided Rocket Pod is the primary weapon used by helicopter gunships of both the Coalition of Ordered Governments and the Union of Independent Republics. Both the Khimera and the King Raven Gunship used these pods to lethal effect.
As their names imply, these pods were guided by a laser, either from the aircraft itself or by a Remote Targeting System on a Mega Mech. Units 'marked' by the laser would become a target by the rockets as they guide themselves to the designation for an airstrike.[1]
These rockets were incredibly powerful, capable of destroying buildings and structures in a single hit.[2]
Strategy[]
The Laser-Guided Rocket Pod was an absurdly powerful secondary weapon for the Mega Mech. By using the Remote Targeting System, the Mega Mech could guide the King Raven Gunship to perform airstrikes on several 'marked' targets at once.
A single rocket could destroy a building with ease and seriously cripple a Swarmak's blisters in a single salvo. However, the King Raven Gunship needs time to restock its rockets, so there is a delay after each fire.
History[]
Raid on the Acastu Imulsion Fields[]
During the raid on the Acastu Imulsion Fields. A Khimaera was seen defending the field facility with rocket pods, although the gunship did not explicitly used it and was just surveying the area of COG forces.[3]
Raid on Jacinto Med[]
When Locust forces raided the Jacinto Med, a King Raven Gunship used its rocket pods with devastating effect outside the Jacinto Medical Center.[4]
Assault on the Tollen Dam[]
During the Assault on the Tollen Dam, JD Fenix and Kait Diaz used the Remote Targeting System on their Mega Mechs, to mark their targets for KR Three-Seven's rocket pods. [5]
