- "See, the way you described Niles' machine gave me an idea. I call it Hijack. Go ahead. Try it out."
- —Baird asking Kait to experiment on the device.
Hijack is the hacking device named and developed by Damon Baird during Delta Squad's Mission to OZP-11 in Vasgar.[1]
It is a harpoon-like weapon that fires at a target and promptly 'flows' their brains with electrical voltage. The harpoon is connected by a cable, making it reusable and allowing JACK to temporarily 'control' the target. Baird considers it as crude but an effective tool that could turn the Swarm's allies against them.
Strategy[]
- "Whoa. You figured out how to override the Hivemind?"
- —Del's surprise at the device.
- "Uh. no. JACK just floods their brains with voltage. It's crude, doesn't last long, but it works."
- —Baird replying to Del on the functions of Hijack.
Hijack is a late-game upgrade for JACK. Its ability to temporarily take control of a Swarm enemy makes it a good device for briefly turning the tide of a battle, create a useful cannon fodder or simply cause chaos within the Swarm's ranks.
It could take over most enemies including even the Warden (if his helmet is blown off). However, it is best used against tougher opponents like Scions and Pouncers, as their high health, good defences and heavy armament allows them to survive much longer and deal more damage over time. The upgrades for Hijack are:
Duration[]
- Hijack lasts 30% longer
Stim Target[]
- Stims the enemy while controlled
Faster Recharge[]
- Hijack recharges faster after use
Detonator Implant[]
- Hijacked enemy explodes on death
Appearances[]
- Gears 5 (First appearance)
