Heavy Scions are Scions whose role deals in heavy weapons support. As such, they are one of the most heavily armed and heavily defended soldiers of the Swarm. The armor of a Heavy Scion is a mismatch of various armor looted and repurposed from the Locust Horde. Heavy Scions generally wield a Mulcher.

History[]

Origins and the Swarm War[]

Like all Scion varieties, Heavy Scions were born from the crystalline shells that encased them following the detonation of the Imulsion Countermeasure Weapon and the ensuing metamorphosis of the entire Locust race. The strange crystals covering the Locust bodies were proven to be unbreakable and indestructible as there were little attempts of destroying them; instead, the COG committed to dumping thousands of dead Locust bodies in abandoned sites for mass burial sites and bury them underneath.

Little did humanity know, the countermeasure weapon never killed the Locusts; rather, it forced the Locusts to shut down for preservation, enhancing them and mutating them in states of prolonged metamorphosis. 25 years later, the Scions along with the rest of its brethren, emerged from their dormant shells and quickly waged a new war for survival against the newly reformed COG.[1] Heavy Scions were the first type of Scions encountered as one burst out a wall of Locust Shells just as Kait was inspecting it. [2]

Strategy[]

Heavy Scions present a different behaviour than their common brethren. Due to the weapon they wield, Heavy Scions lay down suppressing first before approaching.

The Mulchers they carry pose a threat at close to medium range as the sheer suppressive firepower of the Mulcher makes aiming precarious on higher difficulties. To counter this, simply retreat to a longer range where the Mulcher's effectiveness would decline. Carry long-range weapons like Longshots to deal with these Scions.

Due to all the armor they wear, Heavy Scions are a little bit tougher than normal Scions. Nevertheless, they are still vulnerable to explosive weapons and precise headshots.

Behind the Scenes[]

  • Heavy Scions perform a similar role to Grinders.
  • Heavy Scions are technically the first type of Scion encountered.
  • It would seem the Heavy Scions have hair, or spikes on their backs like Berserkers of the past once did.
