"Operation Lifeboat, my ass. More like Operation Death Wish."
—Pvt. Hank Bissell in a Journal Entry recovered by Marcus Fenix along with his COG Tags

Private Hank Bissell (CSID:085177-MJ3V5-PB) was a Stranded who joined Operation Lifeboat and became a Gear in the Coalition of Ordered Governments Army.

Biography[]

Stranded[]

Before joining the Coalition of Ordered Governments, Bissell was a Stranded and was married. He decided to join up with the COG via Operation Lifeboat so that his wife would be taken care of.[1]

Operation: Hollow Storm[]

After he became a Gear, Bissell discovered that the benefits of Operation Lifeboat had been exaggerated. He had the opportunity to desert at some point, but chose not to take it, which he would later regret. Bissell participated in Operation: Hollow Storm, and wondered how the Grindlifts were supposed to take them out of the Hollow, because he had never been trained on how to do that. He was killed during the Battle of Ilima, and his body and COG Tag were found by Sgt. Marcus Fenix, along with a letter he wrote complaining about the COG.[1]

COG Tag[]

COG TAG CSID:085177-MJ3V5-PB

This is such crap. Operation Lifeboat, my ass. More like Operation Death Wish. Damn COG, always manipulating everything....

"Sign here, your wife will be taken care of. Sure, you'll see some action, but you'll always be back in Jacinto to see your wife after a patrol." Yeah, right. Didn't tell me I was gonna get a ride on an oversized drill right into the ass of the enemy, did you? You gotta be kidding me. This is a suicide mission. How the hell do we get back out of here anyway? They say the Grindlifts can go back up, but they sure as hell didn't train me how to do that...

Should of deserted these fascist bastards when I had the chance.

Behind the Scenes[]

  • Bissell was likely one of the members of Charlie-Nine who were ambushed and killed by the Locust, or a member of Sigma-One killed while trying to rescue Charlie-Nine and a crashed Raven pilot. The former is more likely because Cole was already carrying the COG Tags of his dead Sigma teammates.
