Major Girek C. Toly (UIR Tag 237-IL-624) was a UIR soldier and commander of UIR Control Vasgar, and negotiated the surrender of Anvil Gate.

Biography

Pendulum Wars

Siege of Anvil Gate

Three months into the Siege of Anvil Gate, Toly was contacted by Lt. Victor Hoffman, commander of the COG forces in the fortress. He asked Toly if the offer to surrender the garrison and let the civilians in the city go free still stood, and Toly told him it was. Hoffman then offered to surrender the fort if Toly let the civilians leave the city first, and then Hoffman would open the gate. Toly agreed to the conditions, and gave Hoffman his word the civilians would be unharmed.

Mutiny at OZP-11

When the UIR-COG Armistice was signed, Toly was assigned to decommission the UIR's Hammer of Dawn project at OZP-11. However, Gorasni soldiers led by Major Garron Paduk launched a mutiny in an effort to launch the launch the satellites anyway. Toly led the defense against the Gorasni, who, despite being heavily outnumbered, made surprising headway against Toly's forces. Commanding his forces from inside the UIR Rocket Hangar, Toly used a semi-sentient computer virus to infect all of the base's systems and brick them against his enemies. After three days, Toly's forces ultimately fell, but the UIR alerted the COG who defeated the mutiny by firing a Lightmass Missile from Azura at the parking lot of the Cosmonaut Training Facility. Toly himself died against a tank in the rocket hanger where his body remained for decades.

Swarm Invasion

Mission to OZP-11

In 42 A.E., Delta Squad traveled to OZP-11 to launch the UIR's Hammer of Dawn satellites to fight against the Swarm guided by Paduk. During the mission, Delta found Toly's body and recovered his UIR tags. JACK was also able to bypass Toly's virus so that the squad could access the mainframe.

Personality and Traits

Major Toly was a man of his word when he allowed Lt. Hoffman to evacuate the civilians of Anvegad from Anvil Gate. But his trust was misplaced when he was betrayed by Hoffman when the surrender turned out to be a ruse and over 200 of his soldiers were killed when Hoffman burned down the city.
