Hoffman estate

The Mataki Farm on Galangi.

Galangi was one of the South Islands and part of the New Fortitude Territory. It was the birthplace of Bernadette Mataki,[1] and had a population of fifteen hundred.[2]

History[]

Locust War[]

Unlike most of the South Islands during the war, Galangi was safe from Locust attack as it, like Vectes, was on the other side of an abyssal trench that the Locust couldn't dig under. It also didn't get a Hammer strike during the Hammer of Dawn counterattack and so was spared all destruction. In case they did come, however, Bernadette Mataki formed a militia to protect the island, but eventually left for Noroa after learning of other Gears there. She and the Gears protected Noroa for eight years, but eventually made the choice to abandon that island and take the survivors to Galangi, the only known place in the South Islands that was safe. While the others went to Galangi, Mataki headed to Ephyra to reunite with the COG.

Interwar Period[]

Galangi, having survived both the Locust War and the Lambent Pandemic, ultimately became home to the Hoffman Estate where Colonel Victor Hoffman and Bernie Mataki lived.

Swarm Invasion[]

Hivebuster Offensive[]

After being forced into retirement due to disagreeing with First Minister Mina Jinn on her plan for the Hivebuster Offensive, Colonel Victor Hoffman returned to his estate on Galangi where Hoffman began coordinating the mission as a rogue operation.

While being flown to Galangi, Team Scorpio's Condor was downed on Pahanu by a Swarm Flock. Following their rescue by Tak in a King Raven Mark 2, Scorpio was flown to Galangi where they met with Hoffman and Doctor Hana Cole who assigned them to destroy the Swarm Hive beneath Sanctum. After the mission failed, Scorpio returned to Galangi where they began planning how to increase the power of Hana's Venom Bombs using the venom of the Wakaatu. After the Mission to Weilehi, Scorpio returned to Hoffamn's home where they confronted him over his rogue operation.

After succeeding in getting a sample of the Wakaatu's venom, Scorpio gave it to Hoffman and Hana on Galangi. Hana combined the venom and the deadly gas recovered from the New Hope Research Facility to create a new, more deadly Venom Bomb as well as a way for Scorpio to protect themselves so that they could allow themselves to be captured and escape once in the heart of the Hive. Prepared for their mission, Scorpio returned to Pahanu to destroy the Hive.[3]
