"Yeah, all four of us, well, three now..."
—Pvt. Benjamin Carmine to Cpl. Dominic Santiago about his remaining brothers.

An unnamed fourth Carmine brother is an unseen character and is the second eldest brother in the Carmine Family, under Clayton Carmine. He is implied to be a Locust War veteran and survivor, as well the father of Elizabeth Carmine.

He is mentioned by younger brother Pvt. Benjamin Carmine during his training and death in Operation: Hollow Storm with Sgt. Marcus Fenix and Cpl. Dominic Santiago.

History[]

Early life[]

This Carmine brother was born during the late Pendulum Wars in Tyrus to the Carmine Family. They had a long line of family members that served as Gears in the COG Army. A relative of his was a Sergeant Will Carmine, veteran of the Pendulum Wars. This Carmine was the younger brother to Clayton Carmine and later the older brother to Anthony and Benjamin Carmine.

Locust War[]

Six weeks after the end of the Pendulum Wars, a subterranean species from the Hollow called the Locust Horde emerged on the surface of Sera in an event called Emergence Day to initiate a genocidal war against humanity in order to colonize the planet. During the initial attacks, over a quarter of the world population was killed. Among them was Sgt. Will Carmine, who was in Jannermont for the first attack, and was among the first casualties of the war.

Several years later, Clayton joined the COG Army and became Sergeant. Shortly after, this Carmine brother and Anthony also joined. Anthony was with Delta-One during the Lightmass Offensive in Gale 14 A.E., a mission that involved the COG destroying the Outer Hollow with the Lightmass Bomb. With Delta, Anthony was ordered to locate Alpha-One, who had gone M.I.A., and secure the Sonic Resonator that had the capability of generating a three-dimensional map of the Hollow. Anthony was killed during the Mission to House of Sovereigns when a Locust Sniper shot him in the head while standing up from cover.

By Frost 14 A.E., Benjamin had joined the COG Army and completed basic training. He was also assigned Delta-One under Sgt. Marcus Fenix. Benjamin was personally trained by Fenix and Cpl. Dominic Santiago. The three fought the following day in Operation: Hollow Storm. Benjamin defended Delta while they evacuated from Ilima after its sinking by the Locust via a Riftworm. Carmine was wounded, but evacuated onto a King Raven. However, debris knocked the Raven off course and caused Benjamin to fall into the mouth of the Riftworm, and later Delta-One. Benjamin was then trapped in the lower intestine and partially devoured by Nemacytes. Fenix managed to secure Benjamin, but he died from his injuries. Meanwhile, Clayton continued to fight in Operation: Hollow Storm and was present during the Siege of Nexus. The city of Jacinto was later sunk by the COG to flood the Hollow and eliminate the Locust and the Lambent. This Carmine brother and Clayton then relocated with the COG to Port Farrall and later Vectes.

After Chairman Richard Prescott abandoned the COG and the Lambent overran Vectes, the COG disbanded and split up. Clayton joined half of the COG on the CNV Sovereign. It's unknown if this Carmine brother joined Clayton on the Sovereign or went with Colonel Victor Hoffman to Anvil Gate in Anvegad, Kashkur. In 17 A.E., the COG was later successful in defeating the Lambent and Locust on Victory Day with the Imulsion Countermeasure Weapon. The final battle included a valiant fight from Sgt. Clayton Carmine.

Interwar Period[]

During the era of peace following the Locust War, the COG rebuilt. This Carmine brother later married and had a daughter named Elizabeth "Lizzie" Carmine. Like her family, Lizzie joined the COG Army and became a mechanic and one of the best drivers in the army.

Swarm Invasion[]

In 42 A.E., the Locust evolved from the Imulsion countermeasure into the Swarm and continued their war against the humans. Clayton continued to fight in the army as Sergeant. Meanwhile, Lizzie was killed during the Evacuation of Settlement 2 when Captain James Dominic Fenix used a defective Hammer of Dawn to fight Swarm forces, but began to fire wildly, exploding the truck convoy that Lizzie was driving and trapped in.

Notes[]

  • The names of the first three Carmine brothers (Anthony, Benjamin, Clayton) are in alphabetical order. This heavily implies that this brother's name begins with the letter 'D'.
    • The other Carmine family members introduced in the games are also alphabetically after 'D' (Elizabeth, Fredo, Gary).
