Forge is a multiplayer map in Gears of War 4, set in a Pendulum Wars-era steelworks that used to support the COG war machine. A switch in the Control Room can ignite the core furnace containing the Boomshot, incinerating anyone unlucky enough to be inside, including teammates. The switch can be activated in both Versus and Horde 3.0.

Forge Blitz[edit | edit source]

A "Blitz" version of Forge was introduced in Gears of War 4 as part of a free map DLC that Season Pass owners could play exclusively from August 1st, 2017.[1] It became available to all players on August 8th, 2017, but is only available for private play if the Season Pass has been purchased or the map is separately downloaded.

Forge Blitz is a more tightly designed version of the original map for faster-paced gameplay. The map takes place in a sand-swept factory suffering damage from a Windflare underneath a blazing hot desert sun.

The secondary entrances to the Control Room and the elbow behind the Incinerator are removed. Exits from both spawns are also tightened up to provide less open space, and the Control Room has more angles and options for taking cover. Weapon changes have also been made; the Torque Bow now cycles with the Longshot, the Boomshot now cycles with the Dropshot, and the Overkill spawn has been removed.

Forge Blitz (renamed to just "Forge") was ported directly to Gears 5 for use as a Private Play-exclusive map at launch. It uses the same art as in Gears of War 4, but with enhanced graphical quality.[2]
