These grenades use a pyrotechnic chemical reaction to create a blinding light and disorientating bang to momentarily incapacitate a group of targets. Victims would cover their face as a bright yellow light lingers for a few seconds.
Although non-lethal, a direct impact from an exploding flashbang can still result in a loss of hand or finger.
The flashbang execution, as with any other grenade execution in Gears 5, involves the player grabbing the enemy by the top of their head, forcing it upward, and slitting the enemy's throat.
Behind the scenes
- These grenades in multiplayer replace the stun effect that the Smoke Grenades were known for. Now the smoke grenade only obscures vision.
- An update was released that reduced the blinding effect from 1 second to 0.3. This was done to give the smoke grenade more purpose in multiplayer.
