Private Eduardo Santiago, affectionately called Ed, was a retired Gear who fought in the Pendulum Wars. After retiring from military service, he found employment as a mechanic, married Eva Santiago, and had two sons named Carlos and Dominic, and helped raise Marcus Fenix.

Eduardo Santiago was born in Tyrus and came from a two generations of Gears in the COG Army. Eduardo grew up with his sister, Rosa

When he turned eighteen, Eduardo became a Gear in the COG Army as a Private in the Pendulum Wars. He learned how to be a mechanic, as well as some culinary skills.
Civilian life[]
After retiring from the army, Eduardo married Eva. In 22 B.E., they had their first son Carlos Benedicto. A year later in 21 B.E., they had their second son Dominic.[1] Eduardo and Eva raised their sons in the suburbs of Ephyra, Tyrus and later sent them to Olafson Intermediate School.
In 12 B.E., Carlos and Dominic befriended Marcus Fenix, son of famed scientists Adam and Elain Fenix. Eduardo's sons frequently brought Marcus to their home, to which Marcus preferred more than his estate. In 9 B.E., while Eduardo worked on an engine with the three boys, Eva received a call from Adam had told Marcus to speak with his father. After Marcus left, Eva told Eduardo and their sons that Elain had gone missing.[2] With Elain eventually presumed dead, Adam updated his will and left Marcus in the care of Eduardo and Eva in the event of his passing before Marcus turned eighteen, as well as a considerable fortune.
A couple of years later, Dominic began dating Maria Flores, whose family moved down the street before Elain went missing. In 4 B.E., Dominic and Maria were pregnant with their first child and Eduardo's grandson, Benedicto, at age sixteen. Dominic told the news to Eduardo and Eva first, and revealed the intention to marry her. Eduardo admired Dominic's bravery and offered to be with him when he told Maria's mother and father. While Maria's mother sobbed, her father also admired Dom's courage and agreed that he should marry her.[3] They were married shortly after that. In Frost of that year, Benedicto was born. Shortly after, Dominic enlisted in the COG Army along with Carlos and Marcus.
Battle of Aspho Fields[]
Two years later, Eduardo went with Eva, Maria, and Adam to see off Carlos and Marcus from the Fesor Naval Base before the Battle of Aspho Fields.[4] Shortly after, Maria gave birth to Eduardo's second grandchild, Sylvia Carla. Carlos was later killed during the battle, and Eduardo and Eva spent most nights after this crying. After the ceremony where Carlos' Embry Star was given to Dominic, he gave it to Eduardo and Eva. They ate dinner with Dominic, Maria, Marcus, Adam, and Lt. Anya Stroud afterwards, but left early to relieve the babysitter taking care of Benedicto and Sylvia.[5]
Death[]
Six weeks after the end of the Pendulum Wars, the subterranean race known as the Locust Horde emerged in what would be known as Emergence Day. In an effort to colonize the surface, the Locust began a genocidal war against the humans of Sera. During the attacks, Eduardo's grandchildren were killed along with Maria's parents. Eduardo and Eva went missing during the attacks.[6]
As of 14 A.E., Eduardo and Eva were never found. Due to being in Ephyra, they would have had protection and access to contact Dominic despite the attacks. While it was never officially confirmed, they remained missing, presumed dead. It was likely they were killed the initial attacks.
