Deadeyes are humanoid DeeBees that are a sniper class of the Shepherd on the battlefield, and are specialized in wielding the EMBAR Railgun. They have less health then Shepherds, though this is offset by the damage their rifles can deal.[1]

Strategy[]

Deadeyes are identified and named after their cyclopean heads. This large singular eye acts as a giant scope for their EMBARs, which is why the Railgun lacked any iron sights. This is to deny the enemy an ergonomic weapon when a Deadeye is destroyed.[2]

Although they share the same sluggish movements as the Shepherds, Deadeyes are considered far more dangerous due to the fact that their precision long-ranged weapons offsets their inferior servo-motors.

Deadeyes do not appear in Gears 5 and therefore, have no canonical appearance of one hijacked by a Leech. However, they do appear in Gears 5's Horde mode and they make a return in Gears: Hivebusters on board Vulture 144B.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

  • The Deadeye DeeBee is a playable multiplayer character for the Swarm in Gears of War 4. Excluding its default skin, the Deadeye has two unlockable character skins, Ninja and Spectre, which are only available in the Spectral Gear Pack.
  • Although they do not appear in the main campaign, Deadeyes appear as a multiplayer character in Gears 5 and in the DLC expansion of Gears: Hivebusters.[4]
  • They are considered the rarest form of DeeBees save for the Command Bot due to their lack of appearance in the main Gears 5 campaign.
