- "Ukkon's turbocharging his healing, right? Well, at New Hope the docs had a dirty trick called Cytostatic Gas. Completely jams up the healing process. I know how to make it. And you can weaponize it."
- —Major Sid Redburn reveals Ukkon's weakness
Cytostatic Gas was a gas created by the scientists of the New Hope Research Facility as a failsafe against the healing properties of Ukkon.
History[]
Pendulum Wars[]
During the Pendulum Wars, the scientists of the New Hope Research Facility created the gas as a failsafe against the incredible healing abilities of their test subject Ukkon. The gas was designed to jam up his abilities and render Ukkon vulnerable to harm. Ukkon came to call it "the weapon of torturers" for the way that it was used against him. During his time as a guard at the facility, Private Sid Redburn learned how to make the gas.[1]
Locust War[]
Assassination of Ukkon[]
After revealing the truth about Ukkon's origins, Major Sid Redburn suggested Cytostatic Gas as a way to kill him, having not previously mentioned it as he had only wanted to capture Ukkon, not kill him. After Sgt. Gabriel Diaz and Mikayla Dorn got him the necessary parts, Redburn was able to create Cytostatic Gas and weaponize it using Stim-Gas Grenades to create Cytostatic Gas Grenades.
During the Battle of Ukkon's Laboratory, Dorn hit Ukkon with a Cytostatic Gas Grenade, rendering him vulnerable to harm. Following the death of his Hydra, Ukkon tried to use an Immune System Booster to heal his injuries, but his healing abilities were still blocked by the effects of the gas and Dorn warned him that she had plenty of more grenades. With Ukkon's healing blocked by the Cytostatic Gas, Reyna Torres was able to kill him with a headshot from an MX8 Snub Pistol.[1]
Overview[]
Cytostatic Gas is made from two chemicals: fluoracil and RZ50. The gas was created to act as a failsafe to Ukkon's Imulsion-induced healing ability, jamming it up and rendering him vulnerable to harm and death for a time.
These gas was incredibly toxic, melting flesh in a near instant.[2] According to Mikayla Dorn, smelling one of the two compound chemicals that made up Cytostatic Gas was "toxic as fuck". Major Sid Redburn warned the team not to drop the gas as it was prone to melting skin upon contact.
