- "Condor, coming in!"
- —JD
- "...and Condor going down!"
- —Del, after seeing a Windflare destroy a Condor.
The Condor was a fixed wing, four engine turboprop and military aircraft. It served as an aerial transport vehicle for the Air Corps of the Coalition of Ordered Governments in the post-Locust War era. The Condor's primary function was to air-drop Gears and later DeeBees into battle from the low altitudes. Despite it's speed, maneuverability and durability, it was not suited to fly in extreme weather conditions such as the Windflares and could be downed by ground-based weapons fire.
History[]
- "Every Condor we lose means fewer reinforcements."
- —First Lieutenant Fahz Chutani during the Evacuation of Settlement 2
Interwar Period[]
The Condor was created by the COG Air Corps post Locust War and Lambent Pandemic between 17 A.E. and 42 A.E.
Outsider Movement[]
At least three are lost when First Minister Mina Jinn sent the COG DeeBees after James Dominic Fenix and Delmont Walker who she believed are related to the recent disappearances of the COG citizens which are the Swarm abductions in truth. Two fell to the Windflares over the Stroud Estate and a third to fire from a Twin-Barrel Turret used by Gary Carmine at Fort Umson.[1]
Swarm Invasion[]
As the Swarm Invasion began in earnest, the Condors continued to provide DeeBee reinforcements to the Gear squads, but the utility of the DeeBees became severely hampered by the discovery of Flocks which are able to use Leeches to subvert and control the DeeBees. Multiple Condors are also downed across Tyrus and Vasgar by the Swarm attacks and their complements of DeeBees are corrupted. During the Mission to OZP-11, a Condor transported Damon Baird and Delta Squad to Vasgar and later flew Baird back to New Ephyra.[2]
A Condor was sent to transport Team Scorpio to Galangi for a secret mission. However, a Flock attacked the Condor, bringing it down on Pahanu. Though Scorpio and the pilot managed to parachute out, the pilot was killed by shrapnel and her body was discovered hanging by her parachute from a tree. Scorpio made their way through the crash site of the Condor which spread over quite a distance, eventually reaching the cockpit and the radio which was thankfully still intact. After some repairs by Leslie Macallister, Scorpio was able to send a distress signal using the Condor's radio. Scorpio then held the wreckage against Swarm forces with the help of an intact DR-1 until a King Raven Mark 2 piloted by Tak arrived to rescue them. Later, some of the wreckage was visible when Scorpio embarked upon the Mission to the Wakaatu Nest.[3]
