Alpha Squad

Three of the four surviving members of Alpha Squad.

Alpha Squad, or Alpha team[1], was a squad of Gears[2] in the Coalition of Ordered Governments army who were assigned to deploy the Sonic Resonator. This device was intended to give out a sonic pulse that would map the Locust tunnels so that the data could be used for the Lightmass Bomb. Their mission was to deliver the Resonator to the Lethia Imulsion Facility west of Ephyra, where contact with them was lost soon after deployment.

Delta Squad was assigned to find Alpha and radio for evac by King Raven helicopters. Delta Squad stumbled across a group of 3 dead COG soldiers, originally thought to be Alpha, outside the House of Sovereigns. Further into the House of Sovereigns, Delta met up with Cole, who was single-handedly holding off a group of Drones. Due to the loss of Anthony Carmine, Cole joined with Delta Squad to take his place and help rescue Alpha. During their search, they discovered the body of fellow squad mate Jan Rojas, with Cole recovering his COG Tag for his family. After killing several Seeders, Alpha established communication with Delta, notifying them of Troika machineguns on top of the House of Sovereigns that were pinning them down outside the Tomb of the Unknowns. Delta quickly disposed of these and met with the survivors of Alpha, consisting of Damon Baird and two other Gears who managed to safeguard the Resonator.

While awaiting extraction, Alpha and Delta's King Raven was downed by Nemacysts, and the survivors of both squads were forced to retreat into the Tomb of the Unknowns when Locust overran their position. During the battle, one Gear was killed and a second, Gyules was brutally mauled to death by a Berserker. Reduced to two men, Alpha maintained its position until Delta eliminated all remaining resistance.

The surviving members then joined Delta after they were rescued, effectively disbanding Alpha Team.
