"Prior to loss of speech, [AX-331-2] complained frequently about joint and lung pain, as well as agonizing headaches. Subject's exposure to Imulsion was severe even before testing began. Once Rustlung had metastasized throughout the Subject's body, death came quickly."
—Dr. Niles Samson reporting on AX-331-2's death.

Subject AX-331-2 (Name unknown) was a child of an Imulsion miner. Due to the exposure of Imulsion, AX-331-2 was diagnosed with Rustlung and taken to be treated at the New Hope Research Facility. However, by the time that he arrived at New Hope, the Rustlung had metastasized throughout his body and he died shortly after.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

AX-331-2 was born in Tyrus to an Imulsion miner during the early Pendulum Wars. Living in an Imulsion township, his father and the other miners began to suffer from an terminal respiratory disease known as Rustlung, which was caused by long-term exposure to Imulsion fumes. Soon, AX-331-2 and the other children of Imulsion miners showed symptoms of Rustlung.

New Hope Research Facility[]

Due to the newfound health effects of Imulsion exposure discovered by the Coalition of Ordered Governments, the Department of Health established the New Hope Research Facility to house the children of Imulsion miners afflicted with Rustlung, study the toxicity of Imulsion, and to create a cure for Imulsion sickness. Among the children relocated for treatment and experiments was the, and was designated at the New Hope Research Facility as Subject AX-331-2.

The Director of the facility, Dr. Niles Samson, began to inject the children with daily doses of concentrated Imulsion to study the progress of Rustlung. AX-331-2's exposure to Imulsion had reached extreme levels upon arrival. During the testing, AX-331-2 complained of headaches and joint and lung pain. AX-331-2 soon after lost the ability to speak.

Death[]

AX-331-2 died shortly after arrival at New Hope as the Rustlung metastasized throughout his body. His body was dissected and his organs were harvested for study. His other remains were cremated. Through AX-331-2's death, Dr. Samson learned that Imulsion's effects lead to intense and immediate cell stress. But he also discovered that other cells underwent point mutations that could be considered beneficial to genetic engineering.
